Alright been many years since i have charged a battery. When I first put the charger on the battery it was reading up around 8 -9 after 2 hours it was down to 3 so does that mean it is fully charged or what ever?

| Most chargers start at a higher amperage rate and then come down. Let it charge until it reaches zero. |

It's best to put it on a "trickle charge" at like 2 amps for 12-24 hours. Remember... when charging a battery, slow is more gooder.
I'm curious... why did it need to be charged? Did you leave lights on, etc? Is it an old battery? Tell us more. |

Ya it is the 89 ranger battery is roughly 3-4 years old cables need replaced.
Need to invest in a trickle charge instead of this old antique charger |

Sounds to me like there is a constant small load on the battery. It should not discharge enough to not start the truck k in a weeks time.
Follow the current draw, you will find the culprit(s). |
