im replacing the engine in my gfs exploder. have the engine out and i know where this piece goes but how do i get it off? im talking about the drum part connected to the flywheel. i have no idea what that part is called or how i seperate it from the flywheel it looks welded on so any ideas?

Looks like the torque converter (the drum thing) and the flywheel are one unit. Try accessing the bolts on the crankshaft that bolt the flywheel/ torque converter assembly. You may very well have problems adapting the converter to you donor engine because the assemblies are totally different. Try getting the converter that goes to the donor (new) engine and adapting it to the drive shaft. You might have to get a new drive shaft yoke welded on to make it work. You may also have to have the drive shaft shortened and balanced.

There should be four nuts holding the torque converter on the flywheel. They are accessed from the engine side of the flywheel below the oil pan. You will need to rotate the flywheel to get to each one. Put the torque converter back on the Transmission before you install the engine. The converter also has a a drain plug that is accessable through the flywheel. When you install the replacement engine make sure the plug is lined up correctly with the flywheel.
